FASHION DESIGN & CLOTHING

Introduces you to fundamental design skills through a range of creative projects which will build your knowledge of the design, research and construction processes, 2D development, fabrics, and garment construction. The first semester serves as a foundation, introducing the skills you will need in studying fashion as part of the Visual Arts. The second semester focuses on introducing all elements in the discipline of fashion, from creative design practice and pattern-making, to fashion communication and garment construction. In your second year, you will be introduced to the industry through projects, visits and guest speakers. Your skills will be tested not only by the curriculum, but also through national and international competitions. You will have opportunities to undertake textile printing and fabric manipulation. In your third year, you will design, develop and produce a collection of outfits which will promote your style and aspirations for fashion to an external audience.

 

 

Entry Requirements

The general minimum requirement for entry is as follows:

  • Obtained at least 5 Credits in O Levels or Senior High School Certificate/Senior Secondary School/other equivalent pre-university examination from the government school (with the period of at least 12 years of study from primary to higher secondary) in any subjects; OR

  • Any other certificate that is recognized by Polytechnic’s equivalent to the above; AND

  • Obtained at least pass (Grade E) in Mathematics (Maths or Ad Maths), English Language, Visual Arts Education, Art Education and Engineering Drawing; AND

  • Candidates must not be colour blind and physically handicapped which will complicate practical works.
